Helping Hands, Happy Hearts
Royal Oak Family Dentistry is once again partnering with Open Hands Food Pantry for our 2nd annual canned food drive! This food drive will run from November 1st through November 30 - we will be accepting donations right here in the office. Last year, we raised 570 lbs of food, well over our goal of 500 lbs. The outpouring of food and cash donations was so encouraging that this year we've upped the ante, and are hoping to raise 650 lbs. Each donated non-perishable food item equals 1 lb of food, and gets us one step closer to our goal. You can also make a cash donation - a $1 donation can purchase 10 lbs of food. It's hard to believe, but those 10 lbs can feed a family of four for two days!
Over half a million people in southeast Michigan live in poverty. One in eight people in Michigan will need emergency food this year. We are asking you to donate what you can and to help spread the word. We love our community and we want to help. Will you help us help others?
Thank you in advance for all your time, donations, words of love, and caring hearts!

Adopt-a-watt in Royal Oak
Over the last few years, we have been making small changes to be more earth-friendly. It started with adding a high-efficiency dishwasher to our kitchen so that we would use fewer disposable plates and cups, along with a small table to encourage people to bring their own lunch. Next, we added a bike rack to our property, and started re-using paper for our internal documents.
Now, we've decided to expand our efforts to the greater community by becoming involved in the adopt-a-watt program in Royal Oak. Adopt-a-watt is renovating two parking garages in Downtown Royal Oak, replacing the light bulbs with more energy-efficient lighting and adding charging stations for electric cars. We will be sponsoring lighting in the Center Street garage! For more information, visit www.adopt-a-watt.com.
